WALKING & BIKING:

West Ashley Greenway; FREE (Dogs ok) Walk or Bike. Go North on US 17 and turn right on Main Road. Drive approx. 1/2 mile. Just before bridge turn right onto McLeod Mill Rd. Continue right on McLeod Mill Rd. passing under Main Rd. The trailhead is on the left-hand side with parking. 


Dungannon Plantation heritage Preserve 843-546-3226 -FREE - walk or bike – 5 miles. Not paved. Turn left onto Rt. 162 towards Hollywood. Travel approx. 3.5 miles – Look for green sign on right just after Marvin’s Meats (5314 Hwy 162). Nesting site for endangered Wood Storks


PARKS:

Caw Caw Interpretive Center  – $2 – (No pets or bicycles). Tues-Sun. 9 Am – 5 pm.

5200 Savannah Hwy, Ravenel, SC 843-762-8015. Wildlife viewing. Smooth trails, easy walk. 


Angel Oak Park  – 3688 Angel Oak Road, Charleston SC 29402 843-559-3496

Oldest and largest Live Oak Tree east of the Mississippi. Estimated to be 300- 400 years old. 

 

Stono River County Park $1/person 

3580 McLeod Mill Rd Johns Island, SC 29455 - 843-795-4386

Short walk for kids and/or dogs – Water & bathrooms. Picnic Area

Turn right out of park. Continue north on Hwy 17 to Main Rd. Turn right. Drive to McLeod Mill Rd.


Meggett County Park:  $1/Person

Left out of Park onto Hwy 162. Drive to Hollywood. Turn left on Hwy 165 to Meggett.

Continue on State Rd. S-10-1159/Wilson Rd. Drive to Ethel Post Office Rd./ State Rd S-10-128.

The gift shop and observation deck of the Folly Beach Pier are open to the public while replacement construction continues for the remainder of the pier structure. The new Folly Beach Pier is expected to open in the Spring of 2023.

Local wildlife who either make Lake Aire their home or have passed through our property. There are two short nature trails at Lake Aire. One is near the Office and the other one starts behind site K-1 and goes around the back of the Lake to a large Live Oak Tree.
